Requirements

Content submitted must be in article format.

Content submitted can either be in English, Bahasa Melayu or Mandarin.

Article submissions must be at least 300 words and contain at least 1 image (with proper credit).

Content must be unique and not plagiarised. Content submitted is to be exclusive to Newswav and not shared with other media outlets/publishers.

Participants must share the published content in the form of Newswav link (e.g. newswav.com/xxx) onto their social media platform(s) during the contest period.

Participants may submit as many entries as they like within the contest period.

Newswav’s general content guideline applies.
Prizes & Winner Announcement
Newswav Top Picks
(up to 20)
Newswav will select up to twenty (20) best-produced content at the end of the contest period, where winners will receive a RM100 Starbucks Gift Card each.
Top Engagement Prize
(up to 3)
Participants with the highest number of engagements from all submissions collectively by the end of the contest period will receive a RM300 JD Sports Gift Card each.
*Engagement refers to genuine reactions, shares, and comments on Newswav
NOTE: Each participant is not limited to winning in just one (1) category (e.g. Individual A could win the Newswav Top Picks and Top Engagement Prize simultaneously)
Winner announcement will be made on June 30, 2023. Winners will be contacted via email so do ensure that you provide us with the correct contact details upon account registration.
Terms & Conditions
CONTEST PERIOD
1. The Newswav Creator Writing Contest (the “Contest”) is organized by Newswav Sdn. Bhd (“the Organiser”).
2. The Contest will commence from 30 May 2023 (Tuesday, 12pm) to 19 June 2023 (Monday, 12pm) (both dates inclusive) (the “Contest Period”).
3. However, the submission period will start from 30 May 2023 (Tuesday, 12pm) to 12 June 2023 (Monday, 12pm) (both dates inclusive) (the “Submission Period”).
CONTEST ELIGIBILITY
4. Participants ("Participants") must meet the following criteria are eligible to enter the Contest:
i) A student of Taylor’s University
ii) Sign up as a Newswav Creator on 30 May 2023
CONTENT SUBMISSION & REQUIREMENTS
5. Content submitted must be in article format (“Content” or “Entry/Entries”)
6. Content submitted can either be in English, Bahasa Melayu or Mandarin.
7. Each Entry must contain at least 300 words and at least one (1) image with proper credit.
8. Content must be unique and not plagiarised.
9. Content submitted is to be exclusive to Newswav and not shared with other media outlets/publishers.
10. Participants may submit as many entries as they like within the contest period. Newswav’s general content guideline applies.
11. Participants must share the published Content in the form of Newswav link (e.g. newswav.com/xxx) on to their social media platform(s) during the Contest Period. Commenting with the said link on social media platform(s) does not count.
WINNER SELECTION
12. Newswav Top Picks (up to 20 winners): Newswav will select up to twenty (20) best-produced content at the end of the Contest Period, where winners will receive a RM100 Starbucks Gift Card each.
13. Top Engagement Prize (up to 3 winners): Participants with the highest number of engagements from all of his/her submissions collectively by the end of the Contest Period will receive a RM300 JD Sports Gift Card each.
i) Engagement refers to genuine reactions, shares, and comments on Newswav.
ii) The Organiser reserves the right to remove any duplicated, non-genuine, malicious or spam reactions, shares, and comments when tabulating the winner list.
iii) Entries must achieve a minimum of 3,000 total views and 100 total engagements (from all submissions) on Newswav in order to be eligible for the winner selection.
14. Each Participant is not limited to winning in just one category (e.g. Individual A could win both the Newswav Top Picks and Top Engagement Prize). However, each Participant could only win only one (1) prize from each prize category (e.g. Individual A could win only ONE Newswav Top Picks and ONE Top Engagement Prize).
15. In the event that the requirements are not met, there may be instances where no winners are selected.
16. Winners shall be solely determined by the Organiser, whose decision shall be deemed final. No correspondence or appeal(s) will be entertained.
WINNER ANNOUNCEMENT & PRIZES REDEMPTION
17. Winner announcements will be made on 30 June 2023 (Friday) via email to all participants.
18. Winners must provide a copy of their student identification card and a screenshot of their winning content shared on social media during the contest period for verification and to claim their prize. Failure to do so may result in prize revocation.
19. Participants who fail to reply to the email within seven (7) days will have their prize forfeited.
20. Prizes are not transferable, exchangeable or refundable in any way.
GENERAL
21. All costs and expenses in connection with the production of the Contest Content and the participation of this Contest shall be fully borne by the Participants.
22. Contest Content must not be vague, illegal, or unlawful, lewd, obscene, sexually explicit, pornographic, disparaging, defamatory, libelous, offensive, must not infringe any third party’s legal rights, and must not be capable of giving rise to legal action whether against you or the Organiser or a third party (in each case under any applicable law). User Content must be researched beforehand and to be of truth.
23. The Organiser reserves the right to reject, edit or remove any of the Participants’ content at the discretion of the Organiser, at any time.
24. By submitting the Contest Content, The Organiser has the rights to use the entries or material submitted for library, promotional, or commercial use globally.
