Everything seemed normal when the woman entered the car, that was until the driver started sending voice messages to a group of friends. She explained that the driver had told his friends that he would be “fetching a pretty girl” in Mandarin, thinking that she was not Chinese so she wouldn’t understand, he would later say.

STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE

A brief summary on how LokalWav works

1 - SHOOT

Start shooting with your mobile device when you see anything newsworthy or interesting.

2 - REPORT

Accompany your video/images with a detailed explanation of what happened, either verbally within the video or by text.

3 - SUBMIT

Submit your videos/images to us. You can do so via Whatsapp or on our site - It's that simple!

4 - REVIEW

Our team will review your content to determine whether to approve or deny your submission.

5 - GET PAID

Upon approval, your content will be monetized, and you will be paid according to the amount of views you receive!

  • How do I receive payment?
    Once we've verified your identity & confirmed your payout amount, payment will be made via online transfer. Payments will only be made in two cycles, on the 10th and the 20th of every month. NOTICE FOR SINGAPOREANS: Payments will only be made via Paypal, in Ringgit Malaysia.
  • Do I have to edit the content myself?
    No. Just send us the videos/photos, and we'll take care of the rest.
  • Can I send in as many submissions as I want?
    Definitely! There's no quota on the number of story submissions to be sent in - do bear in mind that your content will be subjected to Newswav approval.
  • What are the videos/photos for?
    Once approved, your videos/images will be posted and shared on the Newswav app and on Newswav website. They will act as a source of news, helping to inform other Malaysians on what's happening around them.
  • What can I submit?
    New cafe/restaurant/mall opening, confrontations (people fighting/arguing), great sales/promotions, natural disasters (flood/heavy rain/even snow!), or any other thing that you find newsworthy or interesting! Please be considerate to the victims (if any) and put other people & your safety first. Newswav reserves the right to reject any inappropriate submissions.
  • What if someone else films the same content as me?
    We will select based on the quality of the videos/images as well as the speed of submission. Approval & decision by Newswav is final.
  • Do I need to be in the videos/photos?
    It's entirely up to you! You could just film the content without including yourself, OR you could host your very own stories if you'd like!
  • Can I submit only photos?
    Yes! We'll turn your images into an article. We recommend you to submit at least 5 images for each story. Do try and include as much information on the situation as possible.
  • I have questions that are not here

  • Do I have to download any other apps?
    All you need is your smartphone. Send in your videos/photos & get rewarded once they are approved!
  • Adakah saya perlu memuat turun aplikasi lain?
    Tidak perlu. Anda hanya perlukan telefon pintar anda. Hantar sahaja foto/video kepada kami & dapatkan ganjaran jika ia diluluskan!

    Kami akan memilih berdasarkan kualiti video/foto serta kelajuan penghantaran. Kelulusan & keputusan oleh Newswav adalah muktamad.
  • Adakah saya perlu edit kandungan sendiri?
    Tak perlu. Hantarkan sahaja foto/video kepada kami, dan kami akan uruskan untuk anda.
  • Patutkah saya berada di dalam video/foto tersebut?
    Ia terpulang kepada anda! Anda boleh merakam tanpa menyertakan diri anda, ATAU anda boleh mengehos cerita anda sendiri jika anda mahu.
  • Bagaimanakah video/foto tersebut akan digunakan?
    Setelah diluluskan, video/foto anda akan disiarkan dan dikongsi di aplikasi dan laman web Newswav. Ia akan bertindak sebagai sumber berita untuk memaklumkan rakyat Malaysia tentang apa yang berlaku di sekeliling mereka.
  • Bolehkah saya menghantar foto sahaja?
    Ya! Kami akan guna foto-foto tersebut dalam artikel. Kami mengalakkan anda hantar sekurang-kurangnya 5 foto untuk setiap cerita. Cuba kongsi sebanyak maklumat yang anda boleh tentang situasi tersebut.
  • Berapa banyak cerita yang boleh saya hantar?
    Sebanyak yang anda ingin! Tiada had untuk bilangan cerita yang anda boleh kongsi. Namum begitu, kandungan anda akan tertakluk kepada kelulusan Newswav.
  • Apa yang boleh saya hantar?
    Pembukaan kafe/restoran/pusat membeli-belah yang baru, konfrontasi (orang bergaduh/bertengkar), jualan/promosi hebat, bencana alam (banjir/hujan lebat/ataupun salji!), atau apa-apa perkara lain yang anda rasa patut diberitakan atau menarik! Sila bertimbang rasa kepada mangsa (jika ada) dan utamakan keselamatan anda & orang lain terlebih dahulu. Newswav berhak untuk menolak sebarang foto atau video yang tidak sesuai.
  • Bagaimanakah saya menerima bayaran?
    Setelah kami mengesahkan identiti & jumlah pembayaran anda, pembayaran akan dibuat melalui pindahan dalam talian. Pembayaran hanya akan dibuat dalam dua kitaran, pada tarikh 10 dan 20 setiap bulan. NOTIS UNTUK WARGA SINGAPURA: Pembayaran hanya akan dibuat melalui Paypal, dalam Ringgit Malaysia.

  • 我应该拍什么？
    新咖啡馆/餐厅/商场开业、冲突事件（打架/斗殴、争执）、促销活动、自然灾害（水灾/大雨/甚至下雪！），以及任何其他您认为有新闻价值或有趣的事件！请将他人和你自己的自身安全放在首位，并在体谅受害者的前提下进行拍摄。Newswav有绝对的权利拒绝内容不当的照片/视频。
  • 我需要出现在视频/照片中吗？
    这完全取决于您！您可以只拍摄内容（不包括你自己），或者 如果您愿意，您可以出现或主持自己拍摄的事件。
  • 我可以只提交照片吗？
    当然没问题！我们会将您提供的照片撰写成文章。建议您提交至少5张照片，并尽可能详细地描述事件。
  • 我必须下载其他APP吗？
    无需下载任何APP，您只需一台智能手机即可！把有趣的视频/照片发给我们，并在批准后获得奖励！
  • 我如何收到付款？
    在确认了您的身份和付款金额后，我们将通过线上转账的方式进行付款。付款周期为每月两次：每个月的10号和20号。 *新加坡人须知：付款将通过 Paypal 支付，金额为马来西亚令吉（RM）。
  • 我能提交多过一次吗？
    提交数量并没有任何限制。您可以提交不同事件的视频/照片给我们。切记：内容需要经过 Newswav 审核后，才知道是否被批准。
  • 视频/照片的用途是什么？
    一旦您的视频/照片获得批准，它们将成为新闻来源且发布在Newswav APP及网站上。
  • 如果其他人拍摄的事件与我相同呢？
    我们将根据视频/照片的质量以及提交的速度进行选择。Newswav 拥有绝对的决定权。
  • 我必须自己编辑内容吗？
    不需要！您只需将原有的视频/照片发给我们即可，剩下的交给我们处理。
